With the proliferation of online services, digital age estimation has never been more important for protecting children online. From restricting access to entertainment, gambling, dating, gaming, and social media to online shopping for alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons (knives, for example) and financial services, age estimation has become an essential strategic technology for any online service provider.
Traditionally, digital age estimation technology uses face recognition techniques to estimate age from facial characteristics. But voice is also a powerful predictor of age.
In his talk, Dr Summerfield will discuss age estimation using voice biometrics and its use in situations where face recognition is either unavailable, for example, smart speakers or inappropriate. Moreover, voice naturally complements face and can be used with traditional face recognition technologies to strengthen age estimation and provide a multi-factor age estimation solution.
Clive will be presenting at the Biometric Summit 2023 on Thursday, 23 March 2023
